Vital Signs

Of all the diseases that plague us today, heart disease is under better control through lifestyle changes and medical intervention than most others. Vital Signs is a story of how that came to be. It traces the highlights of 50 years of research supported by U.S. taxpayers through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. Written as a series of short stories, the volume is highly accessible to the lay reader. A specially bound edition was presented to President Bill Clinton on the occasion of the Institute’s 50th anniversary. Copies are available at libraries throughout the United States or from the author. |
